Jahdai Daegal
Jahdai Daegal was born the youngest of three siblings (brother Hektor, sister Alia). His mother died in an accident when he was very young (5) and his father was captured by slavers (current location unknown). Thus Jahdai and his siblings were raised by an aunt (Iona Daegal) on her small but successful farm. His childhood was fairly happy and comfortable, with a number of friends.
At the age of 12, he and his friends trekked quite far from home. A sudden windstorm broke and Jahdai was separated from his friends. He was found by a hedge wizard (bronze female dragonborn Chassath Daadendrian) who realized that the boy had the potential to be a wizard. She took him in as an apprentice (after clearing things with Iona) to teach him the basics of wizardry. Once he'd learned all he could from her (and read all her books to boot), she sent him on to the University of al-Karadis to further his education. He honed his magic skills as well as dove into the library to read all the books he could get his hands on. He became known as quite the researcher due to his long hours in the library and began working for one of the professors.
One auspicious day, some of his fellow researchers lured Jahdai out of the library for a night at one of the local taverns. To his misfortune, he entered a game of cards with some mercenaries that were passing through. He drank far too much (at the urging of one of the mercenaries) and the next day found himself on a supply cart, pants-less, and owing the Deathspear Mercenaries three years service. Jahdai was unhappy about the arrangement, but saw an opportunity to further hone his magic in the field as well as make some coin. So he worked his three years, stayed an extra few months to help them finish a campaign, before returning home to catch up with his family and return to the university.
However, Jahdai had been bitten by the adventurer bug and it wasn't long before he found his gaze looking to the horizon again....
